We can note the Transfluxor block which is a cube (20 cm per side)
We can try to estimate number of bits... 32 wires on each side, gives 1024 per plan.
20 stacks gives 20 bits per word (6 octal +sign + parity)

In that time, byte was not used. We worked in octal (3 bit packets)
So only 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 were used. but 3 is not a magic binary number.
Now we prefer nibbles of 4 bits. 2 nibbles giving a byte. So we speak hexadecimal.
In reality this is allways binary, but just a condensed writing and a convention.

Hexadecimal uses 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F.
I do not know many people able to multiply in hexa, or decrement binarily
